National PTA School of Excellence

National PTA's goal for the School of Excellence program is to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of students by forming family-school partnerships that leverage community resources to strengthen family engagement and contribute to continuous school improvement. By enrolling in this program, Robinson PTA and school administrators are making a year-long commitment in identifying and implementing an action plan for school improvement based on PTA's National Standards for Family-School Partnerships.

Robinson PTA and school administrators have spent this past year working on the following steps in an effort to meet the National PTA’s goal as noted above.

Step #1: Enroll in the National PTA School of Excellence – Done

Step #2: Deploy Baseline Survey – Done

Step #3: Set a Shared Objective – Done

Robinson PTA selected the following focus area and objective.

Focus Area: Ensure Health & Safety of Students

Objective: To advocate for safer routes to school (bicycling, walking, parking, busing)

Step #4: Complete Initial Application – Done

Step #5: Follow Roadmap to Excellence – Ongoing (The current update is provided below.)

The Robinson PTA National School of Excellence committee is working on promoting Safer Routes to School with safer street crossings, student education, and parent education. Both parents and students play an important part in this effort.  We want to keep all our students safe, but we need your help. The students completed a survey on how they get to and from school; watched two videos; and received a flyer on April 12, 2018. The information is available at the links below.

Step #6: Deploy Final Survey (To be completed by mid-May)

Step #7: Complete Final Application (Submit by June 1)

Step #8: Schools are Notified in August

Robinson Middle School has been chosen to be part of The Cooper Institute and United Way Healthy Zone School Program. These organizations will be evaluating changes in the fitness, activity, participation, and health attitudes through surveys and Fitness Gram results. The attached form serves as passive consent for your child’s de-identified data collection used to promote healthy activity and healthy eating at home.
