The Benefits of Going Outdoors
Taken from Time Magazine November 19, 2018
Studies have shown that spending time outdoors can decrease the levels of the hormone cortisol, lower blood pressure and reduce other markers of stress.
Exercise is an important pillar of health, and going outside encourages you to get moving, whether hiking, biking, gardening or strolling.
Parks are inherently social places. Seeing and interacting with others guards against loneliness- a major public-health threat- and fosters community.
Researchers have shown that spending time in green space can lift mood and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, including rumination and feelings of worthlessness.
Soaking in the arresting beauty of nature has been found to lower levels of inflammation in the body and spark feelings of generosity, perspective and selflessness.
Pollution is linked to a number of ills, ranging from respiratory problems to cancer and heart disease- so breathing clean air may reduce your risks.Read More

Robinson PTA Safer Routes to School
10/8/2018 11:47 am
Robinson PTA was awarded the National PTA School of Excellence this year, and our action plan for school improvement has been focused on Safer Routes to School. We are thrilled to have a crossing guard in front of PSA on Preston Meadow now, as well as on Denham Way and Preston Meadow. Thanks to Ms. Lee and the School of Excellence Committee for facilitating these changes!
We have a few reminders for parents and students. We want to keep all of our students safe, but we need your help. Below are two videos for you to watch, as well as a couple of flyers.

School Store News

The Robinson PTA School Store has gone mobile this year. While we are awaiting our new kiosk, we are using our temporary mobile School Store station.
Volunteers are needed for the School Store! Working in the Robinson School Store is a fun and low-stress volunteer job and provides a great way to interact with students and staff!
The store is open four days a week, so we need many volunteers to keep it running. You can choose your own schedule, volunteering as little as one or two days a month! We provide training to all new volunteers, and you’ll select your own days/times to work!
The store hours are Monday & Friday 7:45 a.m.–8:30 a.m. by the front office and Tuesday & Thursday 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.
All School Store volunteers must complete an online PISD background check and join the Robinson PTA prior to working in the School Store. Please contact Kimberly Nezianya and Pamela Royal at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in this enjoyable opportunity!

National PTA Names Robinson Middle School a 2018-2020 National PTA School of Excellence!
8/24/2018 9:44 am
We are excited to announce that Robinson Middle School was recently recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence for the 2018-2020 school years. National PTA’s School of Excellence program supports and celebrates partnerships between PTAs and schools that work to improve the educational experience and school environment for every child. This program provides guidance to assist schools in engaging families in the school decision-making, and helps schools build inclusive policies related to education, health, safety, or the arts. This past year, Robinson Middle School focused on safety and welcoming all families.
The RMS School of Excellence Committee selected a focus area of Health and Safety with an objective of Safer Routes to School. RMS PTA incorporated select National PTA standards to promote the safety of students by leveraging family-school partnerships and community resources, including PISD, the City of Plano, and RMS parents. The Committee envisioned realizing Safer Routes to School with safer street crossings, student education, and parent education. This is an ongoing effort, and the School of Excellence Committee is currently working on procuring new signs. In addition, Robinson administration has requested a crossing guard study in front of PSA on Preston Meadow.Read More
